Feeling up for a tougher Hares & Hounds Race? This week we'll be on the poorly-named Flatland Loop route -- 8 miles with 326ft of climbing towards the end to break those groups up! https://whatsonzwift.com/.../makuri.../route/flatland-loop
We'll figure out groups and head starts once we see...
Hey, I am here....just missed this thread!
Let's see, I was invited to Zwift back in beta testing days (my ID is absurdly low: 7300) but back then I didn't have a smart trainer (or even a power meter). Fast forward to year before last and I got back into cycling after an ~8-year hiatus and...
Moving time: 4:58
Elapsed time: 5:28
I bonked pretty badly due to not drinking enough and only really eating when stopped. I aiming to hit 4:30 this year.
How about another Hares & Hounds Race? Last week's was so much fun let's give this another try. This week we'll be on the Tick Tock route -- it's about the same distance as last week with a couple minor kicks (174' of elevation gain) to make it a little more interesting! Zwift route: Watopia...
For the virtual races, join us in the Southern Illinois Zwifters Facebook group or the same-named club in Zwift itself (found in the Companion app).
This week (Thursday, January 25, 2024) we're doing a "Hares and Hounds Ride" where slower riders start first, next group 4 minutes later, and then...
That's what I did: just waved. I didn't understand what they were saying anyway because, as usual, I'd been dropped by the group and was trying to catch back up!
Tour de Donut is fun -- year before last I won my age group in the donut-eating category (you can race outright, or get 5 minutes off for each donut you eat). I don't think I felt like eating a glazed donut for months after that!
Tour de Corn is indeed good -- a very flat century...which is...
Much more so than when I lived in the west burbs of St. Louis. Less traffic, and with my Garmin Varia bike radar on lesser-traveled country roads I hardly worry at all. I think the only sections where I've worried was when I'd ride Old Route 13 from Marion to the Refuge loop. Once on our...
As for standing group rides, these are on my radar (adding to what Rom shared):
Saturday morning Bike Surgeon ride from Carterville: crisp pace with regroups, often breaks into separate groups if enough people, moderate hills (depending on route).
Tuesday evening SNBC group ride from DuQuoin...
For me, Zwift helps remove excuses -- no need to worry about weather, temperature, the extra time of driving somewhere to ride (so I can avoid traffic). When I have a window of time, even at lunch (since I work from home) I can just jump on and go.
As for staying interested, I have a number of...
Hey Shawn, thanks for pulling this together!
Maybe I'm missing it, but is there a calendar feature that could be enabled? That'd be great for listing cycling events, recurring group rides, etc.
