Howdy Members,
On this thread, I'll be posting content about various features of the Bike Southern Illinois forum to help you better use this community and enjoy all the features it provides.
Today's feature is Thread Tags
Thread Tags are used to help you organize the forum. You may add tags to your content. These tags become links, allowing topics/threads that discuss similar things to be grouped and searched for. This makes finding things a lot easier for all members of the community.
Using Thread Tags is completely optional. While it does help keep the forum organized, you don't have to add them if you don't want to. But if you do want to, the feature is there for you to enjoy.
How to add Thread Tags:
Once your thread is submitted, you'll see the tags above the main content of the thread. You can click on the tags to see more content for that particular tag.
You can only create tags for new threads. You cannot create them for replies to threads.
To see all the tags used on the forum, check out the main thread tags page. Some of the tags are larger and bolder indicating that they are popular and used more than others. You can also search for tags on the tags page. As the forum gets larger and more tags are made, the search feature will make finding tags and the content within them a lot easier.

How to add Thread Tags:
- When you create a new topic/thread, after the body of the thread where you put your main post content, there is a section called "Tags." This is where you add tags. This is pictured below.
- Type in tags you want to add and use the comma to separate tags. Once you hit the comma button on your keyword, the tag will be automatically created. If you need to edit the tag, press the delete button on your keyword to go back into the tag. Delete it all if you want to remove it or make your edits and then press the comma button again to create the tag. Your tag can be one word or a combination of words.
- Please use relevant tags that are directly related to the topic. For example, if you post a review about a cycling kit, you will use "cycling kit" as a tag. You wouldn't use "cycling bag" because the kit is about cycling apparel and not bags. We (moderators) may remove irrelevant tags if needed.
- Try to keep tags to a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 to 5. Too many tags can cause information organization to be too broad.
- If a tag has already been made, a dropdown will appear, and you can press that tag to add it for your convenience. You may use tags that already exist as long as they're relevant to the topic you're creating.
