I try to stretch on the daily. Mostly just trying to keep my posterior chain from being too tight from sitting long hours at work.
Unfortunately, the only way to get better at stretching, is to stretch. Simple things like being able to touch your toes without bending your knees is so beneficial. Then doing some core work on top of that will help you with everything.
As a matter of fact, i woke up the other day with some back pain, and immediately said "i need to hit the gym". Most likely if you don't have severe nerve damage/pain it can be fixed by strengthening the muscles in that area.
