Some riders spray their water bottle at them. Usually works, but not foolproof. I need my water lol.

    Dogs

Man, there is never a correct answer here Shawn. I've done it all. I avoid mace because the owner may be tracking you down lol. If they are at a distance, I am like ROM, sprint and enjoy it. If don't think I can get by them because they saw me coming, I will slow and play it by ear, usually...

Tips for Training for Your First Cycling Race

Using the KISS principle, one day intervals, next day gentle longer miles. Repeat. Do group rides to become comfortable in pace lines. For crits, you will be rubbing elbows. Stay relaxed. In the road races and crits, stay near the front the entire time if you can, because whipsawing will...

Fueling Your Ride: Best Nutrition Practices for Cyclists

Ride nutrition is always BCAAs only, when cutting weight, but add honey if not. Coffee prior if AM ride. Bonk will come on with an AM ride for me at about and hour and a half if I have not eaten breakfast and not taken in carbs, so know to start consuming at that point. After ride I enjoy a...

New to Cycling? Here Are Some Tips to Get You Started

Don't get on a group ride that may be 25-50 miles when you have never ridden that far before. Getting dropped is not much fun, or slowing down the group.

How to Prepare for Cycling in Various Weather Conditions

If rain, lower your tire pressures nearly half for better traction, especially on curves. Heat, have a headband to keep sweat out of eyes, and an old racing trick I do is when in mid 90s or higher, I have panty hose I will fill with ice, tie off the end, and drape around my neck and under the...

Yes, you get a full body workout, but also are going slower so less wind speed making you cold. Also usually in the hills/woods where there is less wind.

    Almost to 100!

I'll be in the 50 kilometer group for maybe half the members, ha ha. I could lead a hilly route for us and fun sign post sprints. From our camper out of Ava, on beautiful Kinkaid lake. Perhaps swimming/paddling afterwards from kayaks and our boat for those who wanted to relax there after.

    Long-Distance Cycling

In addition to the above comments, I make sure and have Ibuprofen in case there is an injury or acting up tendon, cartilage or ligament, and also salt tabs for long or overnight rides. Found out early on that without adequate water and especially salt when excessively sweating, I would cramp up...

    Bike License Plates

As an Independent social liberal and fiscal conservative, that's a big NO. I believe in as much freedom as possible, as long as someone is not harming others, leave people alone to do as they please. State already taxes us to death. No more government intervention for the rule happy.

How do you not get burned out from cycling?

Vary up road and mountain biking; also ride on and off road motorcycles. In the winter usually focus on weight-lifting and running. Usually mix cycling with fishing, kayaking, etc. Ride individually and with groups. Never been burned out.

    Pedals and shoes

Speedplay on road bikes. Eggbeaters on mountain bikes. Lake shoes only on both; durable, comfortable and good value. Tried many others but toe box usually too narrow.
