I think if you ride long enough, most cyclists are going to have some kind of experience with an irate driver.
In August one of the cyclists in our bike club was hit while on a group ride by an irritated driver who "didn't want to have to wait for the group to stop at a stop sign". He just whipped around the group and tried to cut in front of them while they were rolling up to a stop sign, clipped one of the riders on the left side of the group, knocking the cyclist to the ground. The driver did stick around for the police and then was belligerent to the cop who showed up. It was one of those "why aren't these bicycles on the bike paths" type of individual. We get that a lot in this area (Springfield, IL). Most of the time the car driver will just shout nasty things as they pass by.
At the Dirty South Roubaix a few years back, I was riding with a friend and a young guy in a pickup truck nearly ran us off the road. I don't know if it was intentional and hope it was a case of the driver not seeing us, but it was scary.

Dang that would be scary to get hit by a car, but it would be infuriating to deal with a belligerent person thereafter.
