Mountain biking in the summer means...
  1. More ticks
  2. More spiders and webs
  3. More snake encounters
  4. More overgrowth/weeds
  5. Hotter weather
How do you feel about mountain biking right now in southern Illinois?

is it your thing or will you wait until a different season?

the poison Ivey is my biggest issue. I hate it and it hates me!
We hike through a lot of it.

Our tactic is to bring a cooler with ice and rags soaking in DAWN dish soap.

COLD water only.

When you get back, start washing your skin everywhere. DAWN will get the oil off.

You can use it to wash your bike off, apparel, and shoes, too.

If you want to wait to get a shower, make sure it's a cold shower. Poison ivy oils works a lot like chemical exposure. You want cold water, or your pours open up and you risk further infection.

I used to get it bad as a kid. I don't get it at all anymore. I'm very happy for that, too!

For me it's simply the low speeds and hot temps that kill me. I'll do it, but man its the benefit of road riding. 18+mph is better than 8-10 mph at the same effort.
Yeah. I love summer over winter but man it's a pain when you're dealing with sweat in your eyes all the time while mountain biking.
