A Dirty Triathlon?

Triathlons typically consist of swimming, road biking, and road running. Some are held inside as well.

But what about a "dirty" triathlon or an ALT triathlon?

Who would like to see something like this:

1. An X-mile kayak
2. An X-mile mountain bike ride
3. An X-mile hike

I think this would be an awesome event for this area. In all honestly, those three things are very popular in the Shawnee National Forest and southern Illinois. This could be something that could be held at Touch of Nature, even.

Would any of you participate in something like this?

I sent the idea to ToN.

Swimming was suggested because it would draw that crowd in.

But in all honesty, I think kayaking would bring more locals and family in and do better for the area.

I can't swim but I can wear a life jacket and kayak all day long!

They are fielding questions from all of us. I mean there's talks of short track xc, olympic xc, xterra's, cx. They have options and trying to figure out what works best for them is definitely a challenge.

Whatever they decide, I'd definitely support it.

I would participate in a bike/kayak dual event. Doesn't matter if the bike is road, mtb or gravel.
