    Shimano SPD on road and gravel. 1 pair of Shimano shoes and a pair of Bontrager with Boa dials. the Shimano shoes have softer soles for the hike-a-bike routes.

    There is a ride across MO on the Katy Trail that is called BAM. It is a multi day ride on a former rail trail so there is minimal elevation gain. Lots of fun had each day.

    What do you fuel with on your ride?

    I prefer fasting for morning rides. But afternoon rides I use GU gels as for drink mix I typically use bcaa drink mix. The amino mixes usually have enough electrolytes in them.

    one of the biggest factors is the length of daylight. temps help but not having to ride in the dark sets the total miles more than anything.

    I really prefer to not have a set goal I like to be able to ride as much as I want lol. But with it getting warmer I hope to keep my weekly average mileage 100+ per week but really need to split up my activities to include more paddling and hiking. We’ll see how that works out.

    Do you feel safe riding in southern Illinois?

    For the most part yes. Feel as threatened by the dog chasing me as I do by motorist. We definitely need more shoulders on the roads and they need to teach them to not cut the rumble strips in the middle of the shoulder. That goes next to the white line.
